Episode # 1 "Pilot" Plot: In the series opener, Virginia High Schooler Elena (Nina Dobrev) is a new student (Paul Wesley), which is actually a centuries-old vampire struggling to peaceful coexistence between people.
The show has a running time of 60 minutes, plus you have a lot of commercials, so the actual show does not even last that long. So obviously this review will not be as long as a full length movie review. I know many of you are not interested in the show because the plot is very similar to Twilights plot. But Vampire Diaries is not as close as elementary as Twilight. Tonight's show had a body count of three, teen drinking, drug use and what I think a character said the word Ass (bad LOL) So please do not write out the show just because you think it will be to like Twilight. I was pleasantly surprised by the episode tonight. The acting was pretty good by the protagonist, the effects in a battle scene looked good, and most importantly, it was entertaining. And that's really why we watch movies and TV shows. So it does work.
The only problems I had with the episode tonight was the soundtrack and the main vamp boy. The soundtrack consists of a set of terrible modern hip hop pop crap. I did not like, but I am sure that the target is. The biggest problem with the show is the main vamp child. It might just be me, but it seems he has no heart or passion stuck it in his character. So the action he was not fantastic and it's not much chemistry between him and the leadership. Therefore, the relationship is not very credible.
Vampire Diaries on CW at 8:00 Eastern U.S. time every Thursday evening. Overall I found it very entertaining and a great way to burn one hours. If you're a fan of the books or if you really like the Twilight series, I highly recommend you watch Vampire Diaries.
